Archiving the Memory
Archiving the Memory is a project created by visual artist Savanah Pennell in conjunction with a series of works that deal in the act of preserving memory. Inspired by her grandmother who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she has attempted to preserve her family's stories, memories, and history before they slip away. As everything is temporal, and all memories will fade and be forgotten no matter how well preserved or archived they may be, this task is somewhat in vain, but nevertheless remains important. Not only is this an attempt to not be erased, but perhaps the act of trying to preserve can bring healing and solace.
